Slovenia digital vignette (E-Vinjeta) for motorways

Slovenia’s DARS system sells E-Vinjeta products by vehicle geometry and weight class. The digital vignette covers A and H networks in the product description for the class you select.

Read the short country guide for travellers before you pay.

How buying works here

Pick class 1, 2A, or 2B, choose duration, set the validity start, enter plate and email, review, and pay securely by card.

Multi-country trips

A Slovenian vignette does not cover Austria’s GO-Box network, Italian motorways, or Croatia’s tolls. Buy each country’s product separately.

Measure height correctly

2B pricing depends on axle height. When between classes, verify against your registration and DARS guidance.

Country toll reference (full guide)

Expanded reference from national operator and roadside-marketing material: network coverage, exemptions, vehicle rules, flex-style services where mentioned, and list-price tables. Swiss pages also include separate tunnel and car-loading tables that are not covered by the annual vignette.

E-vignette Slovenia

Slovenia uses the DARS e-vignette (“E-Vinjeta”). It is tied to the registration number; payment confirmation is e-mailed with optional SMS.

Toll roads

Tolls apply on over 610 km of motorways and expressways. Roads marked “A” (motorway) or “H” (expressway) require a valid vignette, including slip roads that belong to those corridors.

Important: from 1 January 2026, vehicles up to 3.5 t do not need an e-vignette on H5 and H6 while a temporary measure is in force until the Koper–Dragonja expressway is completed.

A5Pomurska: Dragučova A1 – Beltinci – Murska Sobota – Pince (Hungary)

Expressways (hitre ceste)

Since early 2020 some former expressways were upgraded to motorways or downgraded to regional roads. Representative corridors:

Exceptions

  • Regional roads are outside the vignette scheme.
  • A2: between Rosenbach (Austria) and Hrušica, toll is via the Karawanks Tunnel, not the general vignette.
  • H5: Škofije–Koper (Škocjan) reclassified as main road G1-11 during temporary exemption.
  • H6: Koper-Semedela – Koper-Lucija reclassified as G2-111 during temporary exemption.
  • H1 segment Pesnica–Tezno and H2 downgraded to regional roads in source material.

Karawanks Tunnel

The Karawanks Tunnel is excluded from the general vignette; pay the special toll at Hrušica. Single crossing prices and multi-pass cards (example: 14 passages / 30 days) appear in the reference tables below.

Regulations for vehicles and trailers

Classes 1 (narrow-track motorcycles), 2A (cars under 1.3 m first-axle height or campervans ≤ 3.5 t), and 2B (taller vans ≤ 3.5 t) are summarised with prices in the tables. Trailers are not separately chargedbuy the class for the towing vehicle.

Prices and validity periods (summary)

Typical lengths: 1 week, 1 month, 6 months, 1 year for motorcycles; cars/campers and vans use week/month/year combinations in the tariff tables. Vignettes cannot be registered retroactively. Annual products run a full year from the chosen start. Service fees may apply online; VAT included in published prices.

Toll regulations for lorries

Above 3.5 t, distance-based DARSGo toll applies with a windscreen transponder; cost depends on kilometres, axles, and Euro class.

Sales points

Online, border petrol stations, and DARS sales offices sell all categories.

Fines and enforcement

Video surveillance checks class and validity 24/7. Reference fines: about £260 without vignette, about £690 for misuse (see table).

Can I transfer my vignette?

Yes, to another plate in the same vehicle class if you bought through the DARS online shop or the same POS channel; requires application and documents in the DARS portal.

Can I change my registration number at a later date?

Flex-style retailer products may allow free plate changes any time before the first valid day; after validity starts, operator rules apply.

Can I postpone the start of validity after purchase?

Flex add-ons from some resellers allow postponing validity; without them, dates are fixed.

  • Slovenian military vehicles.
  • Humanitarian aid convoys where exempted.
  • Foreign military vehicles on national defence tasks.
  • International peacekeeping forces.

Slovenia E-Vinjeta frequently asked questions

Answers about Slovenian toll classes 1, 2A, and 2B, motorway and expressway A/H networks, trailers, and checkout.

Which toll class do I need?

Class 1 is for motorcycles with track width under fifty centimetres. Class 2A covers cars and camper vans up to 3.5 t with height over the first axle under 1.3 m, or campers within the weight limit. Class 2B covers vehicles up to 3.5 t with height over the first axle above 1.3 m, typically high vans. Trailers follow the towing vehicle class; they do not need a separate Slovenian e-vignette.

Which roads require a vignette?

Motorways (A) and expressways (H) marked as tolled need a valid product. Temporary exemptions (for example parts of H5 and H6 while works continue) may apply; confirm on DARS information before driving.

What durations exist?

Motorcycles can buy one week, six months, or one year. Cars and vans buy one week, one month, or one year for their class. Start date defines when validity begins.

How is proof delivered?

After successful payment you receive email confirmation linked to your plate and class.

Can I transfer the vignette?

DARS allows transfers between plates within the same toll class through their online shop rules. This purchase flow registers the plate you enter at checkout.

Is the Karawanks Tunnel included?

The Karawanks Tunnel between Austria and Slovenia is a separate special toll; the general vignette does not replace that ticket.
